Big changes have been happening at Pilot Point Community Library as they celebrate 50 years of providing service to our community!
With an emphasis on additional programming for all ages and the added benefit of several prestigious grants, the Library has truly taken steps forward in benefiting all residents. They were awarded the Texas Municipal Library Director’s Association Award for Excellence in Libraries and received their annual Texas State Library & Archives accreditation.
Every summer, libraries across the country welcome children and adults alike in their doors, providing fun events and encouraging library usage during the warmer months as part of the Summer Reading Program. This year’s program in Pilot Point got a huge boost, thanks to the Texas Library Association and H-E-B, with the Pilot Point Community Library receiving the TLA-HEB Summer at the Library Grant. This grant will help boost our Library’s offering of prizes for those who hand in reading logs in June and July.
June’s prizes include LEGO sets, gift cards to local businesses, Squishmallows, an Amazon Kindle, Apple AirPods and, of course, books.
In addition to the usual Library activities, including Preschool Storytime, Coding Club and the Game Day Saturdays at the Library, the Summer Reading Program events features Wacky Wednesday programming. These events are for the entire family, featuring magic shows, music performances and history talks! See the table below for July’s Wacky Wednesday performances, all of which are at 10 a.m. at the Pilot Point Community Center (310 S Washington). Then stop by the Library on July 30 and make the sundae of your dreams during the End of Summer party!
