Dontarianna Neria Zatrice Boyd passed away on June 18 after colliding with an Aubrey ambulance on the intersection of FM 424 and Fishtrap Road between Aubrey and Cross Roads.
Boyd and her two children were crossing the intersection when the ambulance, headed north on a call, struck them.
“Despite operating with emergency lights and sirens activated, the ambulance collided with another vehicle in the intersection,” the city of Aubrey said in a press release. “The driver of the other vehicle sustained critical injuries and later passed away at the hospital.”
The two children in the vehicle were also transported to the hospital but had “non-lifethreatening injuries.”
The Cross Roads Police Department responded to the wreck and also confirmed the ambulance was responding to another call at the time of the crash.
“The crash remains under investigation,” Cross Roads PD said in a media release.
The paramedics onboard were unharmed and “immediately provided care to the injured until other emergency personnel arrived,” the Aubrey release said.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking loss,” city officials said. “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and extend our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time.”
