Texas Comptroller sets tax-free weekend
Texas will have the annual tax-free weekend Friday-Sunday. Qualifying items include school supplies, traditional backpacks under $100, rolling backpacks, clothing, some shoes, cloth masks and disposable masks.

Trail Treasures at Johnson Branch
The Ray Roberts Lake State Park Johnson Branch Unit, 100 PW 4153 in Valley View will have Trail Treasures with a Ranger, 10 a.m. Saturday, Kid Fish Pond, and Volunteer Information Table, 1 p.m. Aug. 23.
The Isle du Bois Unit, 100 PW 4137 in Pilot Point will have Nature Center Exploration Day, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nature Center; Sunrise Bird Hike, 7 a.m. Aug. 16, Lost Pines Amphitheater; Busy Beaver Table, 9-11 a.m. Aug. 23, Day Use Area; and Make a Snake Craft, 2 p.m. Aug. 30, Nature Center.

With school starting, Lovepacs Aubrey/ Pilot Point is requesting the following donations: ramen, applesauce cups or pouches, oatmeal, Pop-Tarts, microwave popcorn, granola bars, mac and cheese or pasta cups.

Back to School Bash scheduled for PP
A Back to School Bash will be from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Pilot Point Middle School, 828 S. Harrison St. for Pilot Point ISD students hosted by Pilot Point Police Department, Pilot Point ISD, PPISD Police Department and Pilot Point Chamber of Commerce.
There will be free food, school supplies, haircuts and bicycles while supplies last. Students must be present with a parent or guardian to receive supplies.
Tioga to sponsor Back to School event
The fifth annual Back to School Bash will be in downtown Tioga from 3-7 p.m. Saturday. There will be vendors, food, treats, shopping, bounce houses and free school supplies.
School Farmers Market set in Krugerville
The Krugerville Farmers Market will have a Back to School Market from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at Woodland Park, 5200 U.S. 377. There will be free kid’s haircuts, vendors, live music, school supply drive and a raffle for teachers.
Pilot Point PTO plans Chalk the Walk
Pilot Point PTO will have Chalk the Walk from 2-6 p.m. Sunday (come and go) at Pilot Point Early Childhood Center, 829 S. Jefferson St., and Pilot Point Elementary School, 501 E. Carol St., to encourage students on their first day back to school.
