OPINION
Like most of the students in the area, my girls go back to school next week.
It's hard to believe the end of the summer is upon us, but upon us it is.
I think maybe I've been a bit in denial about how soon that's hitting, as I'm going to have to scramble now to get all of their school supplies gathered and ready to go for their first day at Owens Middle School.
This will be their first time as a group of kids getting to open a school, and the facility itself is going to be such a beautiful place for them to learn.
I had the opportunity to not only cover the ribbon cutting for the campus, which was covered in our Aug. 1 issue, but also to go through the halls with their principal, Pamela Foster, to get a detailed look at the facility itself that I turned into a piece in our School Days guide in this issue.
I’m excited, not only for my girls and their friends, but also for my friends on the Owens staff who get to help shape the culture of their new school this year. As all of the preparations wind down for Pilot Point and Aubrey ISDs, I hope that things run smoothly for not only the students and their families but also for the administrators, teachers and staff.
I'm so excited, too, to see the way that so many people and organizations have worked together to create the Pilot Point Back to School Bash for Saturday.
It truly seems like an event that will benefit the Pilot Point ISD families and can be a great model for future Back to School Bashes in the area.
Now that our guide is done and this issue is going to bed, I'm going to try my best to soak up a few more summer memories with my girls.
