The Pilot Point Bearcats traveled to Lindsay on Sept. 12 to take on the Lindsay Knights, with the Knights taking the victory 42-22.
Lindsay found gaps in Pilot Points’ defense and exploited them well enough to pile up over 400 yards of total offense and hand the Bearcats their first loss of the season.
“They’re a very good football team, very physical, and we had some breakdowns defensively where we didn’t take care of our responsibilities, and when we did, they made plays,” said Chad Worrell, Pilot Point athletic director and head football coach. “We knew we were going to have a challenge with their size and the style of offense they ran. They were able to get themselves in third and short all night long, and that was a key to the game. It took us a couple of series to adjust their speed and physicality on offense, and once we did, we moved the ball a lot better. I thought our office played a lot better as the game went on, and I thought our defense played better in the second half.”
