OPINION
You never know how strong you are until you have to find out.
A family emergency this week has taken me back to the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas several times this week.
That hospital system is wonderful.
The staff members, from the people checking visitors into the hospital to the medical professionals caring for the kids there, are compassionate and kind.
Years ago, I was there as a mother whose child was having medical emergencies.
This time, I’m just a family member providing support.
Ideally, no one would need to find out how strong they are when it comes to caring for their child. However, life is incredibly unfair sometimes.
It’s a cliche, I know, but you really should treat people with kindness wherever possible because you never know what they are experiencing behind the scenes.
I will remain grateful for the staff at Children’s, both in the past and current, who have taken such good care of my family.
If you’re having to explore the depths of your strength, remember that it’s OK to not be OK.
