PROMISE.

That was the message City Manager Britt Lusk shared during his Sept. 24 PointBank Business Breakfast appearance.

'We came up with this Pilot Point PROMISE,' he said. 'It's the way we're going to look at our master plan, that is giong to be the way that we look at our values ... and how we're going to move in that direction.'

The acronym stands for Professional, Respectful, Open, Mindful, Inclusive, Service-oriented and Excellent.

In relation to respect, Lusk said, 'It doesn't matter your background, where you come from or how you treat us, we're going to treat you with respect,' Lusk said.

He also connected being mindful with being intentional about the actions the city takes.

'We're here to serve the residents, and we want to make sure that we are service- oriented,' Lusk said.

Lusk also talked about the work the city is doing in improving its water and sewer infrastructure, and the value of having studies that layer on top of one another 'so that you're not just throwing money at something and not ever actually fixing the root cause.'

'We're looking at 115-year-old water lines; we're looking at streets and we're doing a pavement analysis to find out what streets are in the worst condition and which ones we have to pave first,' he said. 'But we're also coupling that with our water and sewer master plan, because we don't want to put a brand new street over 115-year-old water lines.'

Lusk also spoke about the overall comprehensive plan.

'Patina is not just old, rusty stuff,' he said in reference to the word being used to describe the community in the plan. 'It's a character, it's unique, it's forged over time, and that's kind of what Pilot Point is. Pilot Point is one of the oldest communities in Denton County. We've been forged over time.'
