Coming off of their second win of the season and with their playoff hopes on the line, the Aubrey Chaparrals roll into a road matchup with the Lake Dallas Falcons.

The Falcons are 3-0 at home but enter the contest after suffering their third loss of the season in a 31-13 road loss against the Frisco Panther Creek Panthers on Oct. 16.

“They’re very talented; we’re certainly going to have our hands full,” said Keith Ivy, Aubrey athletic director and head football coach. “They have athletes in all three phases of the game with quite a bit of speed and size, and they’re putting up quite a few points and flying around playing really good defense, so it’s going to be tough to go to their place and pick up the win.”

Lake Dallas’ offense is headlined by running back Kevin Ohaeri, who has 479 yards rushing, and receiving duo D.J. Hicks and Gavin Young, who have combined for 908 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns.

Despite the numbers, it’s been a Jekyll and Hyde season for the Falcons, with them averaging 39 points per game in their wins and 13 points a game in their losses.

“We’re certainly going to have to be on our A game defensively,” Ivy said. “Once again it comes down to the battle up front, and we’re going to expect our smaller defensive line to be very active and utilize our quickness and speed to get off the blocks and shut down running lanes.”

On the other side of the ball, the Chaps offense found a spark in their win over the Nevada Community Braves, piling up over 400 yards of offense and seven touchdowns, and Ivy hopes his team can sustain their momentum.

“The message this week is to continue to improve on what we’re doing and continue to get better,” he said. “There’s a little fire under them now, and they’re excited. This is a big game for us, and it could get us backto- back wins in this tough district. We win this one, and we get Panther Creek at home, [but] Lake Dallas is everything we’re thinking about, and our guys will be juiced up and ready to go.”

Aubrey and Lake Dallas’ game was rescheduled to Thursday at 7 p.m. due to adverse weather conditions.

The results were not available by press time.
