Eclectic Boho, a new children’s boutique in Aubrey, officially opened its doors on Aug. 18.
The shop is owned by Laura Bradley, a local real estate broker who decided to pursue the idea after noticing a gap in the North Denton County market.
When the housing market slowed in the summer, Bradley decided she wasn’t going to sit still.
“When things get slow, I get bored,” she said with a laugh. “I’m an entrepreneur by nature.”
That drive—and a love for shopping for her grandchildren— led her to open Eclectic Boho.
The shop sits tucked inside a small suite off U.S. 377, but inside it’s a swirl of soft colors, curated racks and cozy textures.
Bradley says the idea came to her almost on a whim, but, her husband, Greg Bradley, was the one who really pushed her to pursue it.
“My friends owned the office space, and one of their suites opened up,” she said. “I actually thought about doing a resale shop at first. Then I got this crazy idea to make it a children’s boutique, and within a couple of days, I had all my inventory ordered.”
For Laura, the move was as practical as it was personal.
After years in real estate, she saw a gap in the North Denton County market— there wasn’t a single boutique devoted solely to children’s clothing.
“People are always asking in local Facebook groups where they can find cute kids’ clothes without driving to Denton or Frisco,” she said. “So, I thought, why not bring that here?”
Her social media presence has been essential from the start.
Laura uses Facebook to reach moms and families nearby, sharing photos of new arrivals and updates about store events.
During Eclectic Boho’s soft opening—a “sip and shop” complete with mocktails— about 50 people came out, some traveling from as far as Whitesboro.
“The response was amazing,” she said. “Everyone was excited to have something like this close to home.”
When it comes to curating the racks, Laura keeps it a family affair.
Her two daughters, both in their 20s and both mothers themselves, help her decide what to order.
“Between my girls and their friends, I get a lot of feedback about what kids are wearing right now,” she said. “And of course, I scroll through Facebook to see what other moms are asking for.”
Balancing the boutique with her real estate business hasn’t been easy.
“It can get hectic,” she said. “One morning I went live with a new listing, opened the shop and within an hour had to leave for a showing.”
Recently, she hired weekend help to keep things running smoothly while she juggles both ventures.
Despite the challenges, Laura says Eclectic Boho is more passion project than profit chase.
“It’s really just a fun hobby,” she said. “I’d love for it to grow, but I’m not stressing about it. I do it because I love kids, I love clothes and I love making people happy.”
Laura’s joyful spirit radiates throughout the store.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said. “And now that I’ve done it, it just feels right.”
