Panthers defeat Chaparrals

Football season came to a close on Halloween night for the Aubrey Chaparrals with them losing to the No. 6 ranked Frisco Panther Creek Panthers 52-7 on Oct. 31.

The Panther pounced on the Chaps from the opening kickoff, piling up seven touchdowns and almost 500 yards of offense en route to handing Aubrey its fourth district loss of the season.

“Our kids came out and played extremely hard against one of the top teams in the state of Texas,” said Keith Ivy, Aubrey athletic director and head football coach. “We got down early there, and trying to claw back into a game when you have a significant margin in favor of the other team, Panther Creek, it was really difficult for us to ever get back in it.”

Panther Creek took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, with a touchdown pass from quarterback Graylyn Fry to tight end Parker Ord and a 36-yard field goal.

The Panthers continued to pour on the points in the second quarter, with Fry scoring on a quarterback sneak, followed by him connecting with receivers Donovan Webb and Jalen Lott for back-to-back touchdown tosses.

The two teams went into the half with Panther Creek leading 31-0.

Fry connected with Lott two more times in the third quarter from 45 and 51 yards out, extending the Panthers’ lead to 45-0.

Aubrey got on the scoreboard near the end of the third quarter when defensive back Antwon Jones picked off a Panther pass and returned it for a touchdown, making the score 45-7 after a successful extra point kick.

Panther Creek would add a final touchdown in the fourth quarter, taking the win 52-7.

The loss ends Aubrey’s 2025 season and ends its decade-long streak of consecutive playoff appearances, but Ivy emphasized how much he appreciated the resilience his team displayed throughout the season.

“I love all of our kids and our coaches, and I’m proud of all of them,” he said. “They didn’t give up until the last second ticked off the clock.”

Ivy also made sure to express his gratitude to the Aubrey parents for the support they provided to the team during the season.

“I want to say thank you to our parents,” he said. “… They’re always stepping up, trying to help out any way they can. Whether that’s doing Thursday night team dinners or providing pregame meals, they made it happen. Our parents are awesome here in Aubrey, and they do everything they can to support our program.”
