The Career and Technical Association of Texas has selected Aubrey ISD as a CTE District of Distinction.
The recognition, Aubrey ISD said in a release, is given to districts “that demonstrate exemplary leadership, innovation, and commitment to student success through high-quality Career and Technical Education … programs.”
“This recognition highlights the outstanding work being done across our district to support Career and Technical Education and prepare students for success beyond high school,” said Dr. Jonathan Lee, the Aubrey ISD director of career and technical education and accountability, in the release. “I’m so proud of the dedication and innovation our teachers, students, administrators, and community partners demonstrate each day.”
AISD is one of 71 districts of varying size throughout the state to earn the 2026 distinction, according to ctat. org.
Aubrey ISD offers CTE courses that fall under several categories: agriculture, food and natural resources; arts, audio/video technology and communications; business, marketing and finance; education and training; health science; information technology; and law and public service.
In addition, Aubrey ISD works with Denton ISD to provide opportunities not otherwise available on AISD campuses at the DISD Advanced Technology Complex, according to aubreyisd.net/ page/cte.
“The CTE District of Distinction program, launched by CTAT, highlights districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster innovation in CTE, and inspire others through their dedication to student achievement and community impact,” the release said. “Honored districts serve as models of excellence, showcasing best practices and driving progress in CTE statewide.”
Earning the title of a CTE District of Distinction could help draw additional partnerships and “opportunities for collaboration with educational and workforce development leaders, further advancing the district’s mission of preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving economy,” according to the release.
“The launch of the new Aubrey ISD Fire Academy, Law Enforcement, and Pharmacology programs, along with continued excellence in Agriculture, Audio/Visual Technology, Business, Health Science, Information Technology, and Education, underscores the district’s dedication to providing meaningful, career-focused learning experiences,” the release said. “None of this progress would be possible without the invaluable support of our CTE Advisory Board members and community partners, whose collaboration ensures that our programs remain relevant, rigorous and responsive to the evolving workforce needs of our region.”
