The Aubrey Lady Chaparrals volleyball team wrapped up their 2025 season with a 3-1 win over the 39-5 Sunnyvale Lady Raiders in the regional semifinals on Saturday, followed by a 3-1 loss to the 40-6 Spring Hill Lady Panthers in the regional finals on Tuesday night.

Both teams hit the hardwood clicking on all cylinders in the first set of the regional semifinal matchup, with the Lady Chaps taking the slim 25-23 win.

The Lady Panthers rebounded in the second set, taking a 9-point lead and winning the set 25-16.

Aubrey weathered Sunnyvale’s performance in the second set and answered by winning the third and fourth sets by a combined score of 50-31, taking the regional semifinal victory.

Outside hitter Libby Collins led the Lady Chaps offense with 17 kills, followed by 15 from middle blocker Shae Ward and outside hitters Katie Micheal and Kylie Miller, who both had 14 kills.

Setter Baylee Hampton set the table with 55 assists, while libero Emma Conley led the defense with 25 digs.

Aubrey met Spring Hill in the regional finals Tuesday, and the Lady Panthers came out swinging, winning the first set 25-22 and the second set 25-19.

The Lady Chaps recovered and took a 10-point lead in the second period, capturing the set 25-15, but the Lady Panthers found their footing, taking the fourth set 25-20 and the regional championship.

“Hats off to Spring Hill; they played a great match,” Aubrey head volleyball coach Whitney Marriott said. “They were flying around on defense and kept so many plays alive. We struggled to find our rhythm on offense and defense for most of the match. We tried to get going several times, but Spring Hill answered back strong, [and] we committed_ too many errors on offense and defense against a really good team.”

Despite the loss, Marriott said her team has nothing to hang their heads about.

“It is always hard to not focus on just the outcome of last night’s match, but I told the kids that result doesn’t define the season that they had,” she said. “They faced a lot of different adversities throughout the season, and they could have thrown in the towel, but they never did. We kept showing up and working through the difficult times, [and] they have a lot to be proud of.”

Hampton facilitated the Lady Chaps’ offense with 37 assists, while Ward led with 15 kills, followed by Collins, who had 11 kills.

Outside hitter Chloe Miller led the defense with 19 digs, followed by Hampton, who finished the night with 12 digs.

With the 2025 volleyball season at a close, Marriott made sure to thank everyone that helped make the season special.

“I would like to thank the parents, the community, and the administration for their support throughout the entire season,” she said. “Aubrey is a special place to be, and I am so grateful to have gotten to experience another season here. I would also like to thank my two assistant_ coaches Tatum Dobson and Olivia Kamesch. They were amazing this season. They stepped up so much, and I’m so grateful for the hours they poured into this program.”
