Eight Aubrey FFA students traveled to the 98th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, gaining leadership training and career exposure while there, the FFA sponsors said.
The annual convention is 'one of the largest annual student gatherings in the country,' which gives the students a chance to apply their lessons from the classroom to the real world in real time while 'networking for [and with] the future leaders of agriculture,' according to the Aubrey FFA release.
'This convention is an unparalleled opportunity for our students to connect their classroom learning to the future of agriculture,' said Chelsea Fewell, Advisor. 'The experience, from touring a logistics hub to hearing from industry leaders, truly sharpens their vision for purposeful leadership and validates the hard work they put in every day.'
While in Indiana, the students engaged in educational sessions and heard from keynote speaker A'ric Jackson, 'who challenged students to lead with purpose and passion,' the release said.
'Students spent time navigating the massive FFA Expo, connecting directly with colleges and major agricultural businesses, and honing essential soft skills in specialized leadership development workshops,' the FFA advisers said in the release.
The Aubrey FFA students also toured the Case New Holland Master Depot in Lebanon, Indiana, as part of the trip.
'The group also took advantage of cultural and team-building activities, including a visit to the Indianapolis Zoo, trying their hand at duckpin bowling, and exploring the historic Monument Circle downtown,' the release said. 'Aubrey FFA extends its gratitude to the Apgar-Castiglione family for hosting an amazing seafood dinner at Salt on Mass, and to Dairy Solutions for treating the group to a fun meal at Buca di Beppo, both of which enriched the students’ travel experience.'
Fewell expressed her appreciation for the district's support of the students participating in out-ofstate events that broaden their educational experience and provide important life experiences.
'Founded in 1967, Aubrey FFA is the local chapter of the National FFA Organization, dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education,' the release said. 'Currently, Aubrey ISD has 422 members.'
