The Collinsville Pirates won their fourth bi-district championship in a row, handily defeating the Roscoe Plowboys by the score of 51-21.
The Pirates piled up over 500 yards of total offense, 6 offensive touchdowns and a touchdown on special teams to get the victory.
Collinsville started off hot, needing only three plays for Chase Sheppard to score a 47-yard rushing touchdown.
Kicker Isaiah Smith nailed the point after, giving the Pirates an early 7-0 lead.
Roscoe faced tough sledding against Collinsville’s defense, with just 11 yards of total offense in the first quarter.
The Pirate offense kept their foot on the gas pedal, scoring two more first quarter touchdowns.
The first came when Sheppard rushed across the goal line again, this time from 18 yards out, followed by quarterback Paxton Davidson hitting a 56-yard bomb to receiver Chad Davidson to close out a 21-0 first-quarter scoring run that put Collinsville in the driver’s seat for the rest of the game.
The Pirates continued to roll in the second quarter, with Paxton connecting with Carter Larance for a 48-yard touchdown.
The PAT was blocked, but Collinsville carried a 27-0 lead into halftime.
Roscoe received to open the second half, and its offense finally began to click with an 11-play drive but couldn’t convert a fourthand- 5 from the Collinsville 10-yard line, turning the ball over on downs.
The Pirates wasted little time moving the ball into Plowboy territory, with Paxton finding Sheppard for a 49-yard pass.
Four plays later, Paxton found Jaxon Spivey in the end zone for another Collinsville score, extending the lead to 34-0.
Roscoe kept fighting, with their next drive of 10 plays culminating with a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jace Arnwine to Aidan Brown.
Kicker David Villa made the point after, and the Plowboys were finally on the board.
Roscoe’s momentum was short-lived, with Chad taking the ensuing kickoff and racing 90 yards for a Pirate touchdown to close out the third quarter with Collinsville leading 41-7.
Roscoe would score two more passing touchdowns late in the game, but the Pirates answered when Paxton connected with Spivey for his fourth touchdown toss on the night.
The Pirates kicker, Smith, sealed the win with a 37-yard kick that went straight through the uprights with room to spare, sending Collinsville into the second round of the playoffs with a 51-21 win.
Paxton finished the night completing 25 of 35 passes for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Chad had a receiving touchdown to pair with his kickoff return touchdown, Sheppard had 2 rushing touchdowns and Spivey added 2 receiving touchdowns for the Pirates.
The Pirates will face Wheeler, who defeated Electra 35-8, at 7 p.m. Friday at Iowa Parks’ Hawk Field.
