Competing at the next level is the goal of most high school student- athletes, and it was mission complete for three members of the Aubrey Lady Chaparrals’ athletic program, Abby Lynch-Buxton, Preslee Martino and Brynnlee Bohannon, on Nov. 12. Abby, Preslee and Brynnlee were honored with a ceremony hosted in the Aubrey High School gym on Monday in front of family, friends and peers as they signed their letters of intent to continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level.

Abby is a multi-sport athlete for the Chaps but has made her biggest impact on the softball field, where she has received multiple district, regional and statelevel honors multiple times and was even named District 10-4A’s Catcher of the Year for 2025.

“It’s been awesome to have a player at her level in our program,” Aubrey head softball coach James Ramsey said. “She’s done so many wonderful things for us, helped lead us to two state tournament appearances in the last three years, and won numerous awards. I’m so excited and proud of her for this accomplishment.”

Abby will be attending the University of Mississippi on a full athletic scholarship as one of the newest members of the Lady Rebels softball team.

“I’m super excited to go play softball at the next level, and the school, Ole Miss, in general is just amazing,” she said.

Abby said she plans to study psychology and sports management with the goal of one day coaching at the college level after she finishes her career on the field.

She made sure to thank her parents, Shaunna and Erik Buxton, and her coaches.

“She’s put a lot of hard work into this,” Shaunna said. “From Day 1, when she was playing Blast Ball, she went out there, and I knew she was something special. … It’s just been special. She’s continued to grow, she’s continued to get better, and she’s had a lot of coaches along the way that have really helped mold her into who she is, and now she gets to go play at the highest level. It’s a dream come true for her.”

Preslee is a four-year member of the Aubrey High School cheer squad, where she serves as the team captain and helped lead the team to a bronze medal finish at the 2025 UIL Spirit State Championships.

“Preslee is an incredible athlete and an incredible human being,” Aubrey head cheer coach Jessica Hurley said. “Even with her previous accomplishments with other teams, she’s always led with the right attitude. ... She’s been a great captain, and overall, she does a lot for this team.”

Preslee will attend Brigham Young University, where she will receive a full athletic scholarship as one of the newest faces on the Cougars’ cheerleading program.

“I’m most excited for college game days and to be able to compete on the band show at Daytona this year,” she said.

Preslee said she plans to earn a degree in business before going to law school, with the goal of one day becoming a lawyer for an NFL franchise.

She thanked her parents, Jamie and Brandon Martino, siblings and coaches.

“It’s just so fulfilling to see her live her dream,” Jamie said. “She started cheering at four years old, and this has been her entire life. She’s given up so much to be here, and now she’s earned the opportunity to sign with a Big 12 school and cheer at a level that most people can only dream of. We’re just super grateful for her coaches and for everyone that has helped her along the way, and it’s an incredible day for us.”

Brynnlee is a multi-sport athlete for Aubrey’s athletic program but has left her biggest mark as one of the founding members of the Lady Chaps soccer team, where she is second all-time in goals and assists and helped lead the team to the state semifinal in 2025.

“She has been an absolutely stellar athlete and student,” said Kelli Baker, Aubrey head girls soccer coach. “She will set records that I don’t think will ever be broken before she leaves here, with probably over 100 goals in four years, which is crazy, but it’s just been an absolute pleasure.”

Brynnlee will be attending Baylor University, where she will receive a full athletic scholarship as one of the newest members of the Lady Bears soccer program.

“It’s always been my dream, and it’s kind of surreal—like, it’s actually happening,” Brynnlee said. “I’m really here, and I really made it. I just can’t wait to be there and start my next chapter.”

Brynnlee said she intends to study sports psychology while at Baylor with the goal of one day becoming a sports psychologist after her playing career is done.

She thanked her mother and father, Sara and Justin Bohannon, for their love and support.

“It’s been great watching her grow into the person she is now, and I’ve had the pleasure to coach her all the way through,” Sara said. “… You learn so much from playing soccer and being part of a team. I feel like the whole journey has prepared her to go to Baylor and make an impact there.”
