Empanadas – Allison Garcia Yield: 30 empanadas

Ingredients for masa (dough):

2 bars of room temp butter (unsalted)

8 oz. cream cheese room temp

1 teaspoon of vanilla

3 cups of flour Ingredients for filling: Marmalade/Jam of choice that is bakeable For topping: ½ cup of sugar

1 tsp of cinnamon powder Instructions

1. Mix both butter and cream cheese in a small container until it is a creamy like texture.

2. Add vanilla and finally flour, continue mixing until it is formed into dough.

3. Make small balls that each should weigh 30 grams approximately.

4. Press the small ball into a flat circle.

5. Pour enough jam/marmalade on top of the circle dough then close it up into a half circle, pressing on the edges to close it up to avoid marmalade/ jam leaking.

6. Preheat the oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit, and bake the empanadas approximately 25 to 30 minutes, depending on whether they begin to turn into a light brown color.

7. Once the light brown color has appeared they may be fully baked. Take the empanadas out.

8. Mix the sugar and cinnamon powder in a small bowl. Once the empanadas are to be warm, sprinkle the mix of sugar and cinnamon powder onto each empanada.
