Holiday Crafts at Johnson Branch

The Ray Roberts Lake State Park Johnson Branch Unit, 100 PW 4153 in Valley View will have Hot Cocoa with a Ranger, 10 a.m. Saturday, Kid Fish Pond; Winter SOLEstice Guided Hike, 9 a.m. Sunday, Nature Center parking lot; Winter Wildlife, 10 a.m. Dec. 27, Nature Center; and Kid’s Trout Derby, 9 a.m. Jan. 10, Kid Fish Pond.

The First Day Hike Tri-Park-A-Thon will be held from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Jan. 1: Greenbelt Unit, 8:30 a.m. 428 entrance; Isle de Bois Unit, 11 a.m. boat ramp parking lot; and Johnson Branch Unit, 1:30 p.m. Dogwood Canyon parking lot or Nature Center parking lot.

Game Day Saturday at PP library

The Pilot Point Community Library at 324 S. Washington St. will offer Game Day, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, and Noon Year’s Eve Party (all ages), 11:30 a.m.noon, Dec. 31. The library will be closed Wednesday through Dec. 27 for Christmas. Bloomfield Schoolhouse is looking for volunteer teachers. If interested, contact the library.

Lego Club at Aubrey library

The Aubrey Area Library at 226 Countryside Drive will have Lego Club (ages 3-13), 12:30 p.m. Saturday, and Noon Year’s Eve Party (ages 8 and under), 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Dec. 31.

The library will be closed Wednesday through Dec. 27 for Christmas.

Pillows requested for nursing homes

The Pilot Point Coffee House is accepting new, still-packaged pillows for the local nursing homes for “Pillows for Paul.” Pillows can be dropped off in the PPCH donation box.

PPMDD to celebrate opening of Central Hall

The Pilot Point Municipal Development District will host an open house from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday with a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. at Central Hall, 201 E. Liberty St. The community is invited to attend.

School dedication, retirement set at McNabb

The community is invited to attend a school dedication and retirement celebration for Terrie McNabb at 2 p.m. Friday at Terrie McNabb Middle School, 815 W. Sherman Drive in Aubrey.

Canned food drive for Shepherd’s Storehouse

Texas Republic Bank, Haughton Law Group and Healthy Gait Chiropractic are also collecting canned food for Shepherd’s Storehouse during the Christmas season.

Groundbreaking ceremony at Ivy Kids

HOPE Food Ministry asks for food, clothing

The HOPE Food and Clothing Ministry is asking for nonperishable food items, clothing and personal care items at 819 Sherman Drive in Aubrey. Donations can also be dropped off at Keller Williams Realty, 806 S. U.S. 377 in Aubrey.

Lovepacs Aubrey/Pilot Point is requesting the following donations: ramen, applesauce cups or pouches, oatmeal, Pop-Tarts, microwave popcorn, granola bars, and mac and cheese or pasta cups.

Area drop-off sites include Brookshire Brothers, Martin General Store, PointBank, Pilot Point Senior Center and the Post-Signal in Pilot Point; Patrick Nolin Farmers Insurance Agency and The Peanut Gallery in Aubrey; One Mane Place in Krugerville; and 1139 Spanish Moss Drive and Frisco Elks Lodge 2890, 14632 Fishtrap Road in Savannah.

Meals on Wheels needs drivers

Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver Meals on Wheels one day a week Monday-Friday for 2 to 2 1/2 hours from 10:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in Aubrey, Krugerville and Pilot Point. Red, white and aloha

Pilot Point varsity cheerleaders Chloe Pels, left, and Elliott Johnson performed in The Pearl Harbor Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Dec. 7. Pels, a varsity senior and four time All American nominee, and Johnson, a varsity junior and one time All American and three-time nominee, spent a week in Hawaii learning about Pearl Harbor and Polynesian culture and heritage.
