Kid’s Trout Derby at Johnson Branch

The Ray Roberts Lake State Park Johnson Branch Unit, 100 PW 4153 in Valley View will have the Kid’s Trout Derby, 9 a.m. Jan. 10, Kid Fish Pond.

Winter Reading Challenge at PP library

The Pilot Point Community Library at 324 S. Washington St. will offer an adult Winter Reading Challenge: “Dead of Winter, A Mystery/Thriller Reading Challenge” during the month of January. Reading logs are due by Jan. 31 to enter for a prize drawing.

Bloomfield Schoolhouse is looking for volunteer teachers. If interested, contact the library.

Christmas tree collection

for city of PP

Christmas tree collection services will be a part of the city of Pilot Point’s regular bulk pick-up schedule next week. Decorations, lights and heavy-duty stands must be removed. Trees measuring greater than 7 feet or more than 50 pounds must be cut down. Artificial trees need to be broken down by sections with branches flattened down.

Coffee Brews Business News

The community is invited to the next Coffee Brews and Business News event from 8-9 a.m. Tuesday at 110 S. Washington St. sponsored by Martin General Store, Pilot Point Community Arts and Starbright Center for the Arts.

Community Workers Lunch sponsored by 19th Century

The 19th Century Club will sponsor the annual Community Workers Luncheon for those who serve the community by having chili and soup from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pilot Point Senior Center, 310 S. Washington St. All are invited to attend.

Casino Night Save the Date

The Aubrey 380 Area Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Casino Night at 5 p.m. Jan. 24 at Oak+Ivy, 11858 FM 428 in Aubrey. There will be fun activities, food from Trinity River BBQ and a chance to win prizes.

The HOPE Food and Clothing Ministry is asking for nonperishable food items, clothing and personal care items at 819 Sherman Drive in Aubrey. Donations can also be dropped off at Keller Williams Realty, 806 S. U.S. 377 in Aubrey.

Lovepacs Aubrey/Pilot Point is requesting the following donations: ramen, applesauce cups or pouches, oatmeal, Pop-Tarts, microwave popcorn, granola bars, and mac and cheese or pasta cups.

Area drop-off sites include Brookshire Brothers, Martin General Store, PointBank, Pilot Point Senior Center and the Post-Signal in Pilot Point; Patrick Nolin Farmers Insurance Agency and The Peanut Gallery in Aubrey; One Mane Place in Krugerville; and 1139 Spanish Moss Drive and Frisco Elks Lodge 2890, 14632 Fishtrap Road in Savannah.
