The May 2 general election is approaching fast.
Cities and school boards across Texas are receiving applications from candidates.
The terms for Pilot Point ISD Place 1, held by President Renee Polk, and Place 2, held by Amy McEvoy, expire in May.
Incumbent Renee Polk has reapplied to her position.
The board also had an action item listed on its agenda for a 5 p.m. Monday meeting in which the trustees will consider calling a bond election for the May 2 ballot.
Pilot Point City Council Place 1, held by Brian Heitzman, and Place 3, held by Ray Dane, will be on the ballot in May, and both incumbents have filed to run.
For Aubrey ISD, Secretary Jody Gonzalez, who has served on the school board since 2015, has again filed to run for Place 6.
A new applicant, Fred Matthews, is applying for Place 7, a position held by Colleen Dow, who has served since 2011.
Aubrey City Council Place 1 and Place 4 are up for election.
Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Perry holds Seat 1, and Randy Jones holds Seat 4; incumbents Perry and Jones were the only applicants as of press time.
In the Town of Providence Village, the mayoral seat, Place 1 seat and Place 6 seat are up for election.
Mayor Linda Inman has filed to run to retain her position.
Elise Jumbelick has applied to run for Place 6, the seat held by Adam Knesek, who was appointed to the council and had not yet filed to run as of press time.
No application had been filed yet for Place 1, held by Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Nelson, as of Wednesday.
Whether any of the seats feature a contested race, Providence Village residents will have the opportunity to vote on eight propositions that would alter the town’s charter if approved.
The Krugerville mayoral seat as well as Place 2 and Place 4 will be on the ballot.
Newly appointed Mayor Rodney Cagle has filed to run as mayor, and incumbents Marion Ragsdale and Stacey Sasser have filed to run again as well.
For the Town of Cross Roads, current Mayor T. Lynn Tompkins Jr., along with Town Council members David Meek for Place 2 and Kevin Nowak for Place 4, have all filed to run again for those offices.
In the city of Tioga, Place 1 is held by Mayor Pro Tem Kurt Hall and Place 5 by council member Heather Nesmith, and both have filed to run again but had not drawn any challengers as of Wednesday.
Three Tioga ISD seats are up for election: Seat 3, held by Ryan Walters; Seat 5, held by Holly Mizer; and Seat 7, held by Trina Colteryahn.
Incumbents Colteryahn and Walters have reapplied.
In the Collinsville City Council race, there are four seats that expire in May, held currently by Jessica Orsburn, Brandon White, Carl Lucas and Austin Lewter.
Collinsville ISD has three terms expiring in May: Place 1, held by trustee Matt Weaver; Place 2, held by trustee Ryan Patterson; and Place 3, held by President Jared Light.
As of press time, no confirmation was given regarding any applications for the Collinsville City Council or the Collinsville ISD school board races.
The deadline for applicants to file for candidacy for the May 3 general election ballot is Feb. 13.
