Again, something that Tioga ISD Superintendent Josh Ballinger said this week struck me as profound.
This time, it was about the impact that the letters of support from Tioga ISD community members made when he and the other representatives from the district went before the Texas Education Agency officials to plead their case to let Tioga ISD keep building on the work they have done for the last three years.
It was echoed, too, in the comments that Pilot Point Police Department Sgt. Leah Wilson and Pilot Point Fire Department Assistant Chief Bryan Cox said after they received awards for their service on Saturday.
When good effort is put forth, it should be rewarded.
I'm not naive enough to believe that always happens.
That's part of why I wasn't willing to speculate about what news Tioga ISD would receive from the state.
When it is recognized, though, that recognition reinforces the drive to try in the future.
That's why being positive in parenting whenever possible is my go-to.
That's also why I believe in complimenting my staff when they do well. That extends, too, to when I see people in the community putting in the work to make their home a better place. I feel like I've expressed this a lot lately, but when we work together, we all benefit.
That's part of why I love events like the Pilot Point Chamber gala or opportunities such as the Aubrey Municipal Development District's Local Business Accelerator program. The gala highlighted the good that business owners and volunteers do on a regular basis.
The business accelerator connected people who have the knowledge and connections to help with business owners who want to make a bigger impact in their community.
Finding ways to be a light and a help in the community should be the goal.
