An Aubrey ISD employee is dead following a single-vehicle golf cart crash on Saturday.
The Aubrey Police Department and the Aubrey Fire Department responded to the incident, and APD issued a statement about the accident.
“The initial investigation determined a golf cart, being operated by a sole occupant, was traveling westbound on the sidewalk on Frontier Parkway and turned southbound on the sidewalk on McNatt Road, almost striking a pedestrian,” the police said. “The pedestrian witness reported calling 911 to report the reckless driver and moments later observed the golf cart crashed, with the driver being ejected.”
Police said there was only one person in the golf cart during the incident, and that “the driver was found lying on the sidewalk suffering from a head wound.”
“Preliminary investigation determined alcohol may have been a factor in the crash,” the police said in the release.
The man, identified later by Aubrey ISD as paraprofessional David Denton, died while being transported to Medical City Denton.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the death of McNabb Middle School paraprofessional David Denton,” Aubrey ISD said in a release. “Denton joined Aubrey ISD in November 2025. He died in a golf cart accident this past weekend. Please keep the Denton family and our school community in your prayers.”
