President’s List fall honorees

The fall 2025 President’s List honorees from Texas State University in San Marcos are Brooklyn Bartell of Aubrey, communication design; Thomas Sonnenschein of Aubrey pre-business; Aliyah Daniels of Cross Roads, biology; and Sawyer Hazen of Krugerville, pre-business.

Aubrey student’s receiving President’s List honors include Ashlyn Jones, Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado; Marissa Baietto, statistics, Iowa State University; Sydney Freeman, Utah Tech University; Teresa Ray, Sam Houston State University; and Julia Tillman, Champlain College.

Tillman was also named to the Champlain College Trustee’s List for the fall semester, achieving a 4.0 grade point average for two or more consecutive semesters.

Students recognized on Chancellor’s List

The University of Arkansas recognized students for earning a place on the fall 2025 Chancellor’s List, attaining a 4.0 grade point average, including Alyssa Lindlau of Aubrey, psychology; Grace Michael of Aubrey, apparel merchandising and product development; Dylan Gould of Aubrey, business economics; Ethan Croswell of Savannah, interdisciplinary studies; and Abby Hammett of Krugerville, recreation and sport management.

Jaiden Bell of Aubrey, exercise science, was named to the University of Mississippi’s fall 2025 Chancellor’s Honor Roll, reserved for students who earn a grade point average of 3.75-4.0.

Area students earn Dean’s List honors

Area students earning fall 2025 Dean’s List honors from Texas State University were Pilot Point students Kylie Davidson, criminal justice, and Caroline Vincent, public relations; and Ashley Li of Savannah, nursing. Aubrey students included Jonathan Martinez, health sciences; Jaylie Ramos, criminal justice; Chelsea Roache, health sciences; and Nathalia Rodriguez, health sciences.

The University of Maryland Global Campus congratulates the following Aubrey students on being named to the fall 2025 Dean’s List: Sandeep Adapa, Rakita Payne, Tina Silkwood and Dawson Wood.

Local students named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the fall 2025 semester at Abilene Christian University include Shawn Gelski, Anissa Wayman, Annaleise Sevier, Paxtyn Hoard, Ellie Finch, Adriana Esquivel and Kimberly Starks of Aubrey; Ryan McMeen of Cross Roads; and Sarah Denton of Tioga.

Other students receiving fall 2025 Dean’s List honors include Jaiden Locke of Savannah, art studio, Northern Illinois University; Anika Richards of Savannah, biochemistry, Samford University; Olivia Bordere of Aubrey, University of Evansville; Marissa Baietto of Aubrey, statistics, Iowa State University; Katelyn Smith and Noah Smith of Savannah, Fort Hays State University; Jayson Jones of Aubrey, Wichita State University; James Culp and Teresa Ray of Aubrey, Sam Houston State University; Samantha Melendez of Savannah, Sam Houston State University; Sophia Bradley and Renjin Philipose of Aubrey, University of Texas at Tyler; Makenna Porter of Savannah, University of Texas at Tyler; Lacy Loyd of Aubrey, University of Alabama; Landon Hellman, Ariana Mills and Alexi Wilson of Aubrey, University of Arkansas; and Kay Wiley of Aubrey, Ohio University.

Graduates receive fall degrees

Area graduates earning degrees during the fall 2025 semester were Marissa Baietto of Aubrey, Bachelor of Science in statistics and data science, graduating summa cum laude, Iowa State University; Jayden Jones of Aubrey, Master of Professional Studies, Fort Hays State University; and Collin Haynes of Pilot Point, Bachelor of Business Administration in economics, Midwestern State University.

The University of Texas at Austin congratulated the following students during fall commencement exercises: Sarah Gawron of Cross Roads, Master of Global Policy Studies; Saeha Lee of Aubrey, Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering; Kelly Ortiz of Aubrey, Bachelor of Science in nursing; and Joy Delight Pesebre of Aubrey, Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering.

Seaver named to LSC Honor Roll

Owen Seaver of Aubrey, business administration, was named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the fall 2025 semester from Angelo State University. Student athletes must have a minimum 3.3 grade point average and be on the sports roster.

Aubrey student becomes Phi Kappa Phi member

Jamie Chadwell of Aubrey was elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Texas Tech University.

Handball Club wins national titles

Cade Whitley and Dylan Whitley of Tioga attend Angelo State University and are members of the ASU Handball Club in San Angelo. The ASU doubles team of Jacob Mitchell and Dylan entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed and won the Gold Medal in Men’s A Doubles over the topseeded team from Texas A&M University.

The Club won three individual national titles and placed fourth in the Combined Open standings at the recent 73rd U.S. Handball Association National Collegiate Championships at the U.S. National Handball Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Oveross graduates with PhD from UNT

Mattie Elizabeth Oveross, the 2012 salutatorian of Pilot Point High School, graduated in May 2025 with a PhD in educational psychology from the University of North Texas in Denton. She is currently teaching classes at Southern Oregon Community College.

Mattie is the daughter of Mike and Tammy Oveross of Whitesboro and the granddaughter of Lois Ann Osburn and the late Charles Osburn of Pilot Point.
