GrantWorks will be facilitating a no-match grant for the city of Tioga to expand its water system.
Client Services Manager Rob Barthen of GrantWorks shared that it could go toward water loss or 'upgrading or replacing water systems.'
'It will be a competitive grant, but in the funding range that you all qualify for, there's about $70, $71 million, and it could be up to a $5 million grant,' he said. 'Most cities your size aren't coming in at that.'
Also at the meeting, the council heard from Fixed Operations Director Steve Jones and Sales Manager Todd Black of Classic Chevrolet of Texoma about their capabilities regarding lease/purchase options for police vehicles.
At the top of the discussion, council member Tommy Hunter brought his professional connection to the dealership to the forefront.
The turnaround time was a point of discussion.
Once they get parts for a regular police Tahoe, 'it's about 10 days turnaround,' Jones said, and the K9 unit would take up to 15 days.
Parts generally come in within four to six weeks.
The lease would have the vehicles trade out at about 100,000 miles to help prevent high maintenance costs, and the dealership would service the vehicles for oil changes to keep an eye on the wear and tear first hand at no additional cost to the city.
'If there's something going on with that car, we want to catch it,' Jones said.
No action was taken Monday.
The council also approved a planning application for a replat of a single lot filed by Charles and Gail Harpole.
