Seventeen residents celebrate completing the second Citizen Police Academy hosted by the Cross Roads Police Department. Over the course of eight weeks, participants met regularly with officers and staff to gain a behind-the-scenes look at modern policing. The program included instruction and demonstrations on patrol operations, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement and other key aspects of day-to-day police work. Participants also took part in hands-on experiences, including mock traffic stops and simulated building searches. The academy was coordinated by Sergeant Kris Tyler, who guided participants through the program and facilitated discussions between residents and officers. The academy is designed to give residents a better understanding of the challenges and responsibilities officers face, while also creating opportunities for open dialogue and meaningful community engagement.
