Primary elections for Denton County

The primary runoff elections will have early voting from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday with election day Tuesday. For polling locations, go to votedenton.gov.

Snakes Alive at Isle du Bois

The Ray Roberts Lake State Park Johnson Branch Unit, 100 PW 4153 in Valley View will have Volunteer Information Table, 1-3 p.m. Saturday; Full Moon Hike, 8:30 p.m. May 31, Nature Center parking lot; and Carleton’s Catfish Catch-A-Thon, 9 a.m. June 6, Kids Fish Pond.

The Isle du Bois Unit, 100 PW 4137 in Pilot Point will offer Snakes Alive, 10 a.m. Saturday, Lost Pines Amphitheater.

Summer Kickoff at PP library

The Pilot Point Community Library at 324 S. Washington St. will have the Summer Reading Kick Party from noon-3 p.m. June 2. Participants will have the chance to adopt a dinosaur and read to a horse at 2 p.m.

The library will offer Thrilling Thursdays at 10 a.m. during the month of June for all ages.

Book Clubs at Aubrey library

The Aubrey Area Library at 226 Countryside Drive will be closed Saturday for Memorial Day.

The library will offer Who Dunnit Book Club (ages 16 and up), 6 p.m. Thursday; Tween Club (ages 9-13), 4:30 p.m. May 29; and summer reading challenge starts June 1.

‘Shrek The Musical’ at Starbright Center

“Shrek The Musical” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Starbright Center for the Arts, 110 S. Washington St.

Summer camps will begin June 1. The performance of “Patsy Cline” has been postponed until Aug. 7-9.

A ribbon cutting will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Aime Pottery Studio, 717 E. Liberty St.

Tioga to host farmers market

The next Tioga Farmers Market will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday on Gene Autry Drive. There will be handmade goods, baked treats and artisan finds with live music.

PPHS to have sports physicals

Sports physicals will be offered to incoming Pilot Point seventh-12th graders from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Pilot Point High School gym. The cost will be $20 cash/check only.

Benefit BBQ for Mike Phillips

A benefit BBQ for Mike Phillips who has been in the hospital since late February will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Fit Body Gym, 106 North U.S. 377 in Aubrey. Cost will be $15 per plate.

PointBank Business Breakfast in PP

Battle at the Net at THS

Tioga High School will sponsor the Bulldog Battle at the Net volleyball tournament at 10 a.m. May 30. Cost is $20 per person for ages ninth grade to adults. Teams can be coed, all guys or all girls and open to all athletes.

Market on Main in Pilot Point

The May Market on Main will be from 5-9 p.m. May 30 at the Pilot Point Ice House, 123 E. Main. There will be handcrafted items, jewelry, baked and canned goods, and the Pilot Point Chamber Margarita Trail.

“Shakespeare Off the Square” will be performed during the event by Starbright Center for the Arts.

PPISD to offer free summer meals

Pilot Point ISD will have free summer meals for children ages 18 and younger Monday-Thursdays, June 1-25. Breakfast will be offered from 8:30-9 a.m. with lunch from 11:30 a.m.-noon at Pilot Point Early Childhood Center and Pilot Point High School.

Pre-K qualifying events at Aubrey ISD

Aubrey ISD will have pre-K qualification events for the 2026-27 school year.

Rancho Roundup Charity Car Show

The Rancho Roundup Charity Car Show will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 6 at Ranco De La Roca, 2459 W. Blackjack Road in Aubrey. There will be food trucks, fishing, paddle boats, canoes, bounce houses and playgrounds.

All proceeds will go to the Peace of the Rock Ministries.

USDA designates disaster areas

The United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency is extending emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans which can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock.

Affected dates are from March 1, 2025, through July 8, 2025, and include Grayson, Cooke and Denton counties. Application deadline will be Nov. 19. For more information, go to farmers.gov or contact the local USDA Service Center.

The HOPE Food and Clothing Ministry is asking for nonperishable food items, clothing and personal care items at 819 Sherman Drive in Aubrey. Donations can also be dropped off at Keller Williams Realty, 806 S. U.S. 377 in Aubrey.

Lovepacs Aubrey/Pilot Point is requesting the following donations: ramen, applesauce cups or pouches, oatmeal, Pop-Tarts, microwave popcorn, granola bars, and mac and cheese or pasta cups.

Area drop-off sites include Brookshire Brothers, Martin General Store, PointBank, Pilot Point Senior Center and the Post-Signal in Pilot Point; Patrick Nolin Farmers Insurance Agency and The Peanut Gallery in Aubrey; One Mane Place in Krugerville; and 1139 Spanish Moss Drive and Frisco Elks Lodge 2890, 14632 Fishtrap Road in Savannah.

Meals on Wheels seeks drivers

Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver Meals on Wheels one day a week Monday-Friday for 2 to 2 1/2 hours from 10:15 a.m.12:45 p.m. in Aubrey, Krugerville and Pilot Point.
