Denton Independent School District is proud to announce the official naming of its two newest facilities.
High School No. 5 will be known as Mia Price High School, and CTE No. 2 will be known as the Jim Alexander Advanced Technology Center.
Both names honor long-serving members of the Denton ISD Board of Trustees whose leadership helped shape the district into what it is today.
“Mia Price and Dr. Jim Alexander gave decades of their lives to the students and families of Denton ISD,” Denton ISD Superintendent Dr. Susannah Holbert O’Bara said. “Their leadership, vision, and deep love for this community helped build the strong foundation our district stands on today. It is only fitting that these facilities, spaces where the next generation of students will learn, grow, and pursue their dreams, carry the names of two individuals who devoted so much to making those dreams possible.”
Denton ISD has a proud tradition of naming its schools after individuals whose contributions have left a lasting impact on our community.
With these designations, the district is honored to welcome Mia Price and Dr. Jim Alexander into the Denton ISD family of namesakes.
Price served on the Denton ISD Board of Trustees for more than two decades, dedicating herself to advocating for students, families and the future of the district.
Her commitment to educational excellence and her passion for ensuring that every child in Denton ISD had the opportunity to succeed left a lasting impact on the community.
Naming High School No. 5 in her honor recognizes a legacy of selfless service and visionary leadership.
Alexander served 30 years as a Denton ISD trustee, bringing a lifetime of commitment to public service as both a former Denton City Council member and professor at Texas Woman’s University.
The naming of CTE No. 2 in his honor recognizes three decades of dedicated leadership and an extraordinary record of service to the Denton community.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am honored to officially name these facilities after two extraordinary public servants,” Denton ISD board President Barbara Burns said. “Mia Price’s tireless advocacy for students and Dr. Jim Alexander’s steadfast dedication to preparing young people for the future embody the very best of what Denton ISD represents. These names will serve as a daily reminder to our students and staff of the power of committed, compassionate leadership.”
In the town of Cross Roads, Mia Price High School and the Jim Alexander Advanced Technology Center represent the continued fulfillment of the community’s shared vision for the future of Denton ISD, made possible through the 2023 voter-approved bond program.
