OPINION
Any fellow parents out there feeling the start-of-school overload already?
I hope it's not just me.
This year, my girls will be back on two different campuses with my oldest heading to Aubrey High School for her first year there.
There's a lot to take in.
Every evening this week, we have had meetings or events with important information for the upcoming school year.
It's almost a similar feeling, to me, that a lot of people around here express when something new comes in.
We have so much change hitting our area.
For some, that feels like a welcome shift.
Others don't want to lose what they know.
Either way, it feels like there's something new every day.
While the change can be overwhelming at times, we, to some extent, have to find ways to roll with it, because, as people have told me for years, it's coming whether we like it or not. Working with the changes, embracing what's new and positive and looking for ways to handle what we are afraid will affect us from the changes will, I think, help make the shifts feel a bit less like a steamroller.
As with watching our children grow, there's no telling yet exactly what our area will look like in the next 20 years.
If we find ways to make a positive impact, hopefully the community we see will continue to reflect the things we love about it, even when it becomes a fully grown version of itself.
