A now-former Aubrey ISD employee and coach was arrested Monday on charges of sexual assault of a child, improper relationship between an educator and student, and possession of at least 50 depictions or images of child pornography.
The district issued a statement to Aubrey ISD families in response to the arrest.
'Aubrey ISD is aware of an incident involving a former district employee that resulted in an arrest by the Aubrey Police Department,' according to the letter from Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor. 'Immediately upon learning about the allegations, the District placed the employee on leave, and the employee submitted a resignation. Due to this being an active law enforcement investigation by the Aubrey Police Department, we are limited in what we can share."
