Arrest leads to admin leave

Clinton Fisher, an Owens Middle School assistant principal, was placed on administrative leave following his arrest by the Aubrey Police Department in the early morning hours of Sept. 30.

Aubrey ISD sent a letter to the families of the school, which the administration provided in response to an inquiry about whether Fisher had been placed on administrative leave.

'Aubrey Independent School District (ISD) is aware of a DWI arrest involving an Owens Middle School employee that occurred outside of normal working hours and away from campus,' according to the letter dated Oct. 1. 'The incident did not occur in connection with district activities or operations.'

Fisher was charged with driving while intoxicated with child under 15 years old and abandoning or endangering a child.

The children in question were his son and daughter, according to the arrest affidavit.

'At no time did the incident impact the safety, operations, or learning environment of the campus,' the AISD letter said. 'The District takes matters involving its employees seriously and will follow applicable policies and procedures while respecting the appropriate legal process and the individual’s rights. This employee has been placed on paid administrative leave.'
