PILOT POINT BEARCATS
The 6-2 Pilot Point Bearcats varsity football team earned their second district win of the season last week and now prepares to welcome the 2-6 Dallas A+ Academy Knights into Massey Stadium on Friday.
A+ Academy enters the district matchup riding a three-game losing streak after falling to Gunter, 56-6, Dallas Life Oak Cliff, 44-6, and Pottsboro, 48-8, through their first three district contests.
“They’re not quite as good up front as the teams we’ve been playing, but they’ve improved over the last couple of years, and they still have some athletes that can score,” said Chad Worrell, Pilot Point athletic director and head football coach. “They have some kids that can make plays, so we have to focus and have a good week of practice, which is something that can be hard to do after a big win like we had last Friday.”
Offensively, the Bearcats’ offense, which has scored 34 points or more in two of their last three games, should look to continue rolling against a Knights’ defense that has allowed 44 points or more in all three of their district games.
On the other side of the ball, Pilot Point’s defense will look to maintain its momentum against A+ Academy’s offense, which has been held 8 points or less five times this season.
This matchup marks the Bearcat’s final home game of the 2026 season, and Worrell said the special occasion should provide the motivation that the team needs to refocus against for this week's game.
“We have to make sure that the guys understand that last week’s win is in the past, and we have to put it behind us just like you do if there’s a big loss and focus on the next opponent, which is A+,” he said. “It’s also senior night, so that’s enough motivation for us to focus and play well, so I expect us to have a good week.”
Pilot Point and Dallas A+ Academy are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. Friday at Massey Stadium in Pilot Point.
