The first quarterly Coffee Brews and Business News event from the Pilot Point Chamber of Commerce saw high participation.
Hosts Texas Republic Bank, Healthy Gait Chiropractic and Haughton Law Group, in addition to Chamber representatives, said the initial event saw more traction than they expected.
“I’m more than pleased,” Texas Republic Bank Branch Manager Julie Holloway said. “It turned out great this morning. Evidently this was something people were looking for.”
The event was billed as informal conversation over coffee.
“We’re getting the local businesses together to talk about topics that are important to them and issues they might have and to get to know each other,” Holloway said.
As local business owners milled about, their favored, in some cases branded, coffee mugs in hand, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Evon Lusk spoke about the inspiration for Coffee Brews.
“The reason we wanted to do this and it’s important to the Chamber is because we want our businesses to have new opportunities to engage with each other and talk about the things that matter to them,” Lusk said. “Everyone’s talking about anything and everything. It’s informal, and we think that’s important.”
She shared that the event would continue once a quarter throughout the year.
“There are other opportunities for our businesses to engage, so we don’t want to bombard them all every single month,” Lusk said. The next will be hosted at Chapin Title alongside Lake County Lifestyle Real Estate and Texas T Realty with others on the way.
“We do have a wild card in the summer, so we’re not really sure where that one is going to be yet, but we have a couple people interested in hosting it,” Lusk said. “The last one, in the fall, is going to be held at Rooted In.”
Among the businesses present were R&M Garage and other nearby business owners and some further abroad like Sanger Bank and SS Water Restoration in Krugerville.
“Everyone being able to get together and meet each other is amazing, and I think it’s a really good turnout,” Melissa Wilkerson from SS Water Restoration said. “It’s perfect timing and coffee is included.”
Her coworker, Alyssa Carpenter, was particularly fond of the coffee on offer.
“It’s delicious,” Carpenter said. “I actually need to find out which coffee they used because it’s so good.”
In addition to email blasts and the event being featured in the around town section of the newspaper, the Chamber worked up a promo video for the event posting it to social media.
“We asked if they’d host it,” Lusk said. “There is no sponsorship involved or anything, just having them host it. We’ll do it again with the next ones.”
