Pilot Point to have runoff election for Place 6
The unofficial results of the local elections for Pilot Point, Krugerville and Providence Village became available Saturday evening.
In Pilot Point, a total of 1,083 voters cast their ballot.
Of those, 594 voted to elect Chad Major as mayor to the 489 for the incumbent Elisa Beasley.
Brian Murrel had a larger margin of victory over Kelley Burgess, 598 to 455, to win the Place 4 seat vacated by Elizabeth Jones as did Mike Wilson, who defeated Brian Ingram, 599 to 444, for Chad Major's unexpired Place 5 seat.
Although incumbent Andrew Ambrosio, with 502, earned the most votes in his race against Steven Birkelbach and Blake Hampton, who earned 362 and 184 respectively, there will be a runoff election for the Place 6 seat.
That election will be on June 7 between Ambrosio and Birkelbach.
The deadline to register to vote in the runoff election is May 8, and the last day to receive an application for ballot by mail is May 27.
Early voting information was not available by press time.
That is because the Pilot Point City Council election calls for the winning candidate to earn the majority of the vote— over 50%—instead of a winner-takes-all system like the local school board elections have.
In Krugerville, incumbent Shane Kading held his seat against challenger Bryan Firth, 57 to 22 total.
In Providence Village, the incumbents also held their seats.
Place 3's Klayton Rutherford won his race with 297 to Jill Cannon's 107, with Cannon having announced she had dropped out of the race after the ballot was set.
Place 5 incumbent Jeff Doramus held his seat in a 224-195 vote against challenger David Vartian.
