Area students earn All-District honors

The 2024-25 baseball and softball seasons were out of the park, resulting in multiple athletes in the Ranch Cities being recognized for their outstanding performances on the diamond.

Aubrey

The Aubrey Lady Chaparrals softball team captured their third consecutive district title and finished the season as the UIL 4A Division 2 state runner-up.

Head coach James Ramsey and assistant coaches Dani Jacobs and Christine Billmeier were named District 10-4A Region II’s Coaching Staff of the Year.

Senior pitcher Mya Cherry headlined the Lady Chaps honorees, being named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Softball All-State 4A Team.

Cherry was also named the district’s Most Valuable Player and named to the UIL 4A Division 2 Softball State Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Three more Lady Chaps—senior first baseman Judah Van Rijn, junior outfielder Sophia Mulhern and senior utility player Molly Reid—earned all-tournament team selections.

Reid and senior infielder Carmen Alexander were elected first team all-district.

Van Rijn received second-team all-district honors, while junior Abby Lynch-Buxton was named District 10-4A’s Catcher of the Year, and Mulhern was named as an honorable mention, rounding out the Lady Chaps’ district awards for on-field performances.

Alexander, Reid and junior Claire Rose earned academic all-district honors.

Reid and Alexander were also named to the TGCA Academic All-State Team.

The Chaps’ baseball team finished third in their district, winning in the bidistrict round before ending their season with a loss to Kennedale in the second round of the playoffs.

Junior catcher Diego Tagliaferro led the way for the Chaps as a first-team selection to the Texas High School Boys Coaches Association’s All-State Team.

Tagliaferro was named the Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player for District 10-4A Region II.

Junior Sebastian Marin-Oviedo was named the district’s Utility Player of the Year.

Senior pitcher Tyler Winten and senior infielder Braeden Flak were named first team all-district.

Six Chaps were named second team all-district— senior pitcher Cole Govea, senior third baseman Toby Davis, senior outfielder Cameron Sanders, sophomore pitcher Jimmy Hay, sophomore infielder Colton Billings and sophomore outfi elder Luke Hellman.

Freshman Dane Buck rounded out the Chaps onfi eld honors with an all-district honorable mention selection.

Billings, Hellman, Sanders, Winten and senior Alex Osterman received academic all-district honors.

Osterman was also named to the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Academic All-State Baseball Team.

Tioga

The Tioga Lady Bulldogs softball team finished fourth in District 11-2A Region II, winning in the bidistrict round before ending their season with a loss to Archer City in the second round of the playoffs.

Senior pitcher Abbie Benke, junior infielder Kenzee Powers, sophomore infielder Bella Dennis and sophomore outfielders Kennedy Slay and Kyndall Whitley led the way for the Lady Bulldogs, earning first-team all-district honors.

Sophomore infielder Aly Salinas was named second team all-district, while senior catcher Kaylee Evans, freshman infielder Emerson Moore and junior outfi elder Addi Snuggs received recognition as alldistrict honorable mentions.

Ten Lady Bulldogs— Benke, Evans, Whitley, Slay, Snuggs, Dennis, sophomores Zoey Hodge and Ella Norwood and freshmen Skilar Hodge and Pyper Hass—earned academic alldistrict honors.

The Bulldogs baseball team finished eighth in District 11-2A Region II.

Senior outfield duo Austin Norwood and Gage Anderson headlined the Bulldogs honorees, being named first team all-district.

Senior outfielder Sam Mott, senior pitcher Johnny Dorpinghaus, senior infi elder Landon Bingham, senior utility players Julian Hernadez and Slade Babbitt, and junior designated hitter Hayden Roberts were named second team all-district.

The Bulldogs on-field honors ended with freshman outfielder Luke Sheppard and catcher Logan Netterville receiving alldistrict honorable mention nods.

Seven Bulldogs—Anderson, Babbitt, Bingham, Hernandez, Dorpinghaus, Norwood and Mott— earned academic all-district honors.

Pilot Point

The Lady Cats softball team finished fifth in District 10-3A Region II.

Junior Samantha Maxwell and sophomore catcher Scarlett Bush led the way for the team with first-team all-district selections.

Junior third baseman Karla Garcia and sophomore outfielder Shelby French were named second team all-district, while junior infielder Lily Cooper received an all-district honorable mention nod.

French, junior outfielder Callie James and junior first baseman Autumn Gurney earned academic alldistrict honors.

The Bearcats baseball team finished sixth in District 10-3A Region II.

Senior outfielder Dawson David, junior infielder Fernando Marmolejo and freshman utility player Hastings Fischer were the standouts for the Bearcats, receiving all-district second team selections, while junior infielder Kade Stuckly received an honorable mention nod.

Collinsville

The Collinsville Pirates baseball team captured their second consecutive UIL 2A Division 2 State Championship and fourth consecutive district title.

The team’s list of honorees was spearheaded by sophomore third baseman Jaxon Jenkins, who was elected to the THSBCA’s All-State first team.

Jenkins’ THSBCA honors were joined by senior pitcher Garrett Trevino being named second team allstate.

Jenkins, Trevino, senior first baseman Cash Morgan, freshman infielder Paxton Davidson and freshman Caysen Schafer were named to the UIL 2A Division 2 Baseball State All-Tournament Team.

Trevino was also named District 11-2A Region II’s Pitcher of the Year.

Junior Peyton Davidson was named the district’s Co-Catcher of the Year.

Paxton was also elected the district's Co-Newcomer of the Year, while Schafer was named the Co-Freshman of the Year.

Morgan and sophomore utility player Jaxon Spivey received all-district firstteam honors.

Sophomore infielder Noe Cantu and junior outfielder Brandon Cantu were named second all-district, while junior Cooper McMillan and seniors Riley Patterson and Alex Rangel received recognition as all-district honorable mentions.

Paxton, Schafer, Patterson, Cantu, McMillan and Morgan earned academic all-district honors.

The Lady Pirates softball team finished sixth in District II-2A Region II.

Senior outfielder Tessa Vannoy and sophomore infi elder Jaydee Matlock led the way for the Lady Pirates, being named firstteam all-district.

Junior utility player Reece Elvington and sophomore infielder Bailey Miller were elected second team all-district, while sophomore Sophia Woody and junior Rilee Stewart received all-district honorable mention nods.

Five Lady Pirates—Vannoy, Charlie Spratt, Hailey Germany, Abigail Krueger and Avery Gonzalez— earned academic all-district honors.
