Miyoko Tipton

Miyoko Tipton

Miyoko Tipton, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2025, at her home in Pilot Point, Texas. She married Thomas Eugene Tipton on June 10, 1955, in Yokohama, Japan.

Born the third child of 12 to Yechi and Tome Yamagata on August 1, 1929.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Yechi and Tome Yamagata; husband Thomas E. Tipton; great-granddaughter, Katie Doughty and great-grandson Taylor Doughty; brothers Ichitaro, Heidao, and Shigamitsu; sisters Sachiko, Michiko, Fumiko and Kazuko; in-laws Louise and Junior Wade; Bobbie and Red Wylie; Sam and Clara Tipton and Merwyn Tucker.

Miyoko is survived by her children, Terry Doughty and husband, Kenneth of Valley View, Texas; Thomas Tipton and wife Andra of Fort Worth, Texas; Calvin Tipton and wife Carol of Denton, Texas; and Marilyn Pelzel and husband Wayne of Pilot Point, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; six greatgreat- grandchildren; sisters Sumiko and Chiako and brothers Mitsuichi and Tadashi, all from Japan; beloved sister-in-law, Polly Tucker of Sanger, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and Japan.

Miyoko had a rich family history of strength and determination as her great-great-grandfather was a samurai warrior and sensei of bojutsu. This gave her the confidence to face and conquer many challenges in her life, from surviving malaria to living through World War II and adapting to a new country while raising four children.

Our family would like to acknowledge the Concho Hearts Hospice care team and Lexy Heard for the love, compassion and support shown for our mother. You are a blessing and we are so grateful to all of you.

A visitation was held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger, Texas. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
