Ruby graduated as salutatorian of the Pilot Point Gee High School Class of 1959. Dedicated to the medical field and a life of service, she volunteered at Medical City McKinney for over a decade. She was also among the first employees at Plano Presbyterian Hospital, being the twelfth person ever hired.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Kara Kennedy and husband Darrell of Duncan, Oklahoma; grandson, Andrew Kennedy; cousin, Tom Paul and Claudia Shipley of Valley View, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ras and Ina; and special friend, Leon Culverhouse.

Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2025, at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, Texas. A graveside service will follow at noon at Tyson Cemetery in Valley View. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
