Dwight Kirby

After proudly graduating from Pilot Point High School, Dwight served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from April 1966 to April 1968, including a tour in Khe Sahn, Vietnam. His dedication to serving his country was a testament to his character, and he carried those values of honor and integrity throughout his life.
On November 18, 2000, Dwight married his beloved wife, Mary Lydia Robertson, in Nocona. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home on their ranch, where they shared their lives with a variety of animals and a deep love for one another.
Dwight was an avid fisherman and hunter, often embarking on adventures to Colorado with his friends, where he created lasting memories in the great outdoors. After a fulfilling career as an insurance agent with Texas Farm Bureau, where he dedicated 34 years of service, he enjoyed retirement surrounded by family and the beauty of nature.
A member of the Montague County Cowboy Church, Dwight found a second family among his friends there, sharing his faith and love for the Lord. His unwavering devotion to his family, friends and faith defined his life.
Dwight was not only a devoted husband but also a cherished father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kirby; two sons, Justin Kirby and his wife Candace of Houston, Texas, Chance Kirby and significant-other Salli O’Neal, as well as her son Ian Dietz of Pilot Point, Texas; two daughters, Tracy Byrom and husband Chris of Sanger, Stacy Brockett and husband Tyson of Sanger; sister-in-law, Cheryl Bensley and husband Willie; ten grandchildren Athena Kirby, Asten Kirby, Molly Steele, Presley Brockett, Ridge Brockett, Nash Brockett, Anson Kirby, Ella Rae Kirby, Hailey Poland and Tayia Byrom; one great-grandchild, Ivan Poland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dwight is preceded in death by his brother; Joe Scottie Kirby; aunt and uncle, Buck Holmes and wife Nina, and his parents, Riley and Lillie Kirby.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Slay Memorial Chapel of Aubrey in Aubrey, Texas. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Slay Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Joe Caballero officiating. Interment will follow at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, Texas.
