John Waymond Scott
John Waymond Scott

J. W. had several jobs. He was a carpenter, an electrician, drove trucks for Morrison Milling for three years, and his favorite job was the turkey farm he and Betty owned for four years. J.W. didn’t complete his senior year of high school as he chose to enlist in the Army instead and referred to himself as an “8th grade graduate.” J.W. proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He and Betty loved to travel. They have been to all 50 states and have been on seven cruises. J.W.’s favorite place was the Tennessee countryside because it “felt like home.”
J.W. loved to work in his wood shop, reading novels and taking care of Betty Lou. His life advice was “Do something that you enjoy every day.” A motto he truly lived by.
J.W. was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; son, Danny Scott; great granddaughter, Alexa Clement; son-in-law, Mike McCord; brother-in-law, Tom Watson; sisters-in-law, Jacqualine Davis and Rose Cramer; all five sisters, Ora Lee Scott, Jessie Mae McGee, Essie Fay Scott, Reba Sue Scott and Alta Lou Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou of Pilot Point; four daughters, Dawn Trammell and husband Tony of Green Castle, Indiana, Laurie and husband Scott Clement of Linden, Texas, Denyse McCord of Pilot Point, Dana Walker and husband Champ of Pilot Point; 13 grandchildren, Fawn, Christopher, Jonathan, Nathan, LaCole, A.J., Chelsea, Jesse, Tricia, Michael, Abby, Aspyn and Ryan; 15 great grandchildren; two greatgreat grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Lacy Scott of Atoka, Oklahoma.
