Glenda Boerner
Glenda Boerner

Glenda was born on October 21, 1938, to Willie Mae Rollins and John William (Bill) Cooper. She had four siblings which were Billy Wayne Cooper, Wanda Kays, Joyce Wilson, and Jack Cooper.
She married Daniel Thomas Boerner on January 3, 1959, in Pilot Point and is survived by her daughter, Sirena Olson and husband Jason of Little Elm; son-in-law Bobby Parrent; five grandchildren, Faren Manuel of Little Elm, Gavin Olson of Little Elm, Alan and Abby Parrent of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Abby Parrent of Pilot Point, Trevor and Sabrina Olson of Pilot Point, and great grandson Layton Olson. Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Cindy Olson and Tina Parrent, grandson, Tad Travis; one brother Billy Wayne Cooper and one sister Wanda Kays.
Glenda grew up in Tioga, where she graduated from Tioga High School in 1957. She played basketball all four years and served as class reporter, and in her senior year she was voted Most Athletic and crowned Homecoming Queen.
Glenda found her greatest purpose and joy in building a life alongside her beloved Daniel. Together, they created a home rooted in unwavering faith, love and devotion to family. As active members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, their faith was not only something they practiced, but something they lived.
Their life together was also filled with music, laughter and adventure. They could often be found dancing the night away at the KC Hall or enjoying the lively spirit of Polka Festivals, where fellowship and tradition brought them great happiness. They shared a love for travel and the open road, taking countless trips to Bella Vista, the mountains of Colorado, and camping under the stars at Lake Texoma. These journeys were more than vacations; they were treasured chapters in a life beautifully lived side by side.
Throughout her life, Glenda exemplified dedication, resilience and an unwavering work ethic. She began her career at Chance Vaught, then continued as a book keeper at City Machine Shop in Pilot Point. Eventually, Glenda found her true calling when she joined Pilot Point ISD, where she faithfully served as Director of Food Service. In that role, she did far more than oversee meals—she nurtured a community. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and care, where students were greeted not only with warm meals but with kindness, familiarity and a watchful, loving presence.
Glenda found her greatest joy in the simple, beautiful moments of family life. She delighted in watching her grandchildren play their many sports and perform in the marching band, beaming with pride at every game and performance. She had a spirited sense of adventure, often taking spontaneous trips to the casino and somehow always returning a winner. She enjoyed a lively game of 42 and could happily spend hours on the phone, chatting with dear friends or FaceTiming her granddaughters, keeping close connections with those she loved most. Holidays were especially meaningful to Glenda. Nothing brought her more happiness than having her family together under one roof and in front of her pink front door where many photos were taken. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly prepared everyone’s favorite dishes—wilted lettuce, pancakes with peanut butter and warm syrup, Thanksgiving dressing, strawberry cake, and hearty stew. There were no written recipes; each meal was crafted from memory, tradition and, above all, love. Evenings often found her cozied up in her favorite chair, enjoying her Hallmark movies. Once a week, she faithfully gathered with friends for lunch, treasuring the laughter, stories and sweet reminiscences of days gone by. These moments of fellowship filled her heart and reflected the deep value she placed on friendship and community. Glenda’s life was a testament to love, hospitality, and the joy found in togetherness.
