AHS sending big group to area meet

 

Aubrey's track teams will be well-represented at the April 19 area meet in Princeton as a result of their showing at the District 11-4A meet this week. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Twelve individuals and three relay teams earned top-four finishes at the April 4-5 District 11-4A meet, which also was in Princeton. The top four finishers in at area will move on to the April 27-28 regional meet at Texas A&M Comerce.

 

 

 

Aubrey placed third in the varsity boys’ meet and fifth in the varsity girls’ division. The Chaparrals (84.5 points) finished behind Melissa (200) and Celina (143). The Lady Chaps scored 82.5 points; Celina (151.5) won the varsity girls’ competition meet.

    

 

 

 

 

Kaia Saylor led the way for Aubrey with two first-place showings, 5-2 in the girls’ high jump and 35-05 in the triple jump. Jeff Wilbert (15.00) took first in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles.

    

 

The following Aubrey varsity athletes advanced to the area meet:

 

Boys

  • 3,200 meters: 2. Joaquin Monroy, 10:18.55.

  • 110 hurdles: 1. Jeff Wilbert, 15.00; 2. Spencer Neumann, 15.50; 3. Grayson Larson, 15.70.

  • 300 hurdles: 4. Spencer Neumann, 42.22.  

  • 4x400 relay: 3. Aubrey (Justin Gibby, Brody Bounds, Isaiah Byers, Luke Sciba), 3:32.90.

  • High jump: 4. Adrian Porter, 5-10.

  • Long jump: 3. Will Dow, 20-01.

  • Triple jump: 3. Christian Porter, 41-03.

 

Girls

  • 200 meters: 3. Lauren Knapp, 27.08.

  • 100 hurdles: 2. McKenzi Spaulding, 17.40. 

  • 300 hurdles: 3. Morgan Place, 50.48.

  • 4x100 relay: 4. Aubrey (Georgia Green, McKenzi Spaulding, Lauren Knapp, Kaia Saylor), 51.42.

  • 4x200 relay: 3. Aubrey (Georgia Green, Arielle McKinney, Lauren Knapp, Kaia Saylor), 1:40.10. 

  • High jump: 1. Kaia Saylor, 5-02.

  • Triple jump: 1. Kaia Saylor, 35-05.

  • Discus: 3. Rachael Housewright, 85-04.
